27. How to Use Stories to Drive Donor Retention & Authentic Relationships

About this episode

It’s no secret that we’re big fans of Bloomerang around here. They’re a leading provider of donor management software that helps nonprofits deliver a better giving experience, so they can raise more money and create lasting change.

In this episode of The Intentional Fundraiser podcast, I’m talking with James Goalder about How to Use Stories to Drive Donor Retention & Authentic Relationships. James is a Partnership Manager with Bloomerang.

With almost 20 years of experience working in nonprofit technology sales and relationship management, James brings the perfect blend of experience to his role as Partnerships Manager at Bloomerang.

In his 7 years there, James has enjoyed helping nonprofits and those who work with them find success with Bloomerang, increase their effectiveness, and ultimately achieve their missions.

In addition to his work, James volunteers with Project GROWS, a community farm in Virginia. Their mission is to improve the health of children and youth through garden-based education and access to healthy food across a three-county region. They know that kids who have a hand in growing their own vegetables, also love to eat them! And unfortunately access to fresh, healthy food isn’t a reality for a lot of children, youth, and families.

James serves on the Project Grows Board and participates in Volunteer Nights with the organization. In his free time, James enjoys hiking in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley with his wife and four children and exploring local wineries and breweries. He loves to cook, read and travel.

"Ideally, it would be great to use your database to drill down into those different segments and really personalize your content. It could be an email or phone call. However you're choosing to interact with your donors, the more knowledge you have about what's important to them and why they're passionate about your mission, the better the outcomes will be for you."
