16. The Role of Emotion in Fundraising

About this episode

In this episode of The Intentional Fundraiser Podcast, I’m talking with Francesco Ambrogetti about "The Role of Emotion in Fundraising" and how emotions drive our decisions and shape our behaviors.

Francesco leads UNICEF’s Innovative and Alternative Finance for Children. For over 20 years, he’s been fundraising internationally, across four continents with organizations like the World Wildlife Fund, Doctors Without Borders, and the Red Cross World Bank. He is a Professor of Fundraising at Bologna University in Italy and has authored various books including Emotionraising and Hooked on a Feeling (Hillborn, 2016 & 2021).

Our guest

Francesco Ambrogetti, Director, Innovative Finance for Children, UNICEF

"Instead of something to hide or control, emotions are driving our decisions and I believe that our fundraising is becoming much too formulaic and rational, often lacking the power of emotions to engage with donors."

- Francesco Ambrogetti, Director, Innovative Finance for Children, UNICEF
